Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 14 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday announced a state-wide genetic study on COVID patients.
Addressing a press conference here this evening, he said, "A genetic study of patients infected by the Coronavirus was conducted in the northern districts of the State in collaboration with the Institute of Genomics and Integrated Biology under CSIR. This will be extended across the State.”
The CM added that as per the experts, the rate of the spread of the virus is very high in the State. “The elderly should especially be more cautious as they are more prone to be infected by the virus and the death toll is likely to rise. The ‘Break the Chain’ campaign should be made more stringent and efficient. With the opening up of the public transport services and other closed establishments, Kerala should expect to see a hike in the number of Covid cases as the spread of the disease would be much higher than it is today.”
