Objective: The main objective of the call for research proposals under India-EU cooperation is to investigate the cumulative impacts of various marine pollutants on marine organisms and ecosystems. This includes assessing the harmful effects of persistent organic pollutants, pharmaceuticals, and other contaminants. 

Area of Focus: 

• Implementation of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive.
• Assessments of the adverse effects of pollutants on species and habitats.
• Cumulative effects of pollutants on marine health.
• Compliance with Commission Decision (EU) 2017/848.
• Alignment with the Water Framework Directive.
• Support for the zero pollution action plan.
• Protection and restoration of ecosystems as per the EU biodiversity strategy for 2030.
• Compliance with the EU Nature Restoration Regulation.
• Evaluation and possible revision of the Single Use Plastics Directive.
• Contribution to the planned Global Agreement to End Plastic Pollution.
• Support for the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.
