सीएसआईआर ने हमारे प्रिय पूर्व महानिदेशक - डॉ एस वरदराजन के निधन पर शोक व्यक्त किया (31.03.1928 - 11.05.2022)

CSIR deeply mourns the sad demise of Dr. S Varadarajan, a former Director General (22.6.1984- 27.1.1986). He was born on 31st March 1928 in Bengaluru and breathed his last today in Delhi. The entire CSIR family is deeply saddened by the loss and the nation has lost a great Indian Scientist today.

Padma Bhushan, Dr S Varadarajan, was awarded PhD in 1952 from University of Delhi, and also from University of Cambridge, UK, in 1956. He has been one of the leading chemists and key architects of Indian science. He was the former Secretary in the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and has received many accolades including the INSA CV Raman Medal for Promotion and Service to Science; INAE Lifetime Contribution Award in Engineering; Life Time Science Award in Petroleum among several others. He has been the President of INSA (1996-98), Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore (1980-82), Indian National Academy of Engineering (1992-95), Nutrition Society of India (1982-86), Oil Technologists Association of India (1984-86) and Treasurer Materials Research Society of India (1990-94).
